Senawang And Sungai Gadut Komuter Stations Operate In May

Kuala Lumpur, April 23 (Bernama) - The new commuter stations in Senawang and Sungai Gadut, which are part of the Electric Double-Tracking Project (PLBE), will begin operations in mid-May.

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) president Dr Aminuddin Adnan said the completion of these stations, located 10 kilometres apart, raised the total number of commuter stations to 53.

"This is the first stage of the PLBE completed and the overall project is expected to be ready by 2014," he told a news conference after the launch of the KTM Komuter Run 2011 by Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin at the KTMB Headquarters here.

The PLBE is a RM3.45 billion project involving 98.116 kilometres along the Seremban-Gemas route spanning Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

At the event, KTMB also introduced the 1RM (1 Rakyat Malaysia) ticket system for senior citizens, the disabled and uniformed school students.

Commenting on the 1RM ticket, Dr Aminuddin said the ticket priced at RM1 will be sold to the first 100 customers on the first day of each month at 51 commuter stations.

"Its purpose (introduction of 1RM ticket) is to meet the government's call through the 1Malaysia concept of People First, Performance Now. The one-way ticket will be sold from 6am to 6pm," he said.

The 1RM ticket system is among KTMB's rebranding process, aside from attracting new users to take advantage of facilities provided by the company.

In addition to that, Dr Aminuddin said KTMB will introduce an integrated ticket concept with the installation of Automated Fare Collection (AFC) systems such as that implemented by Rapid KL.

"With the new system, users can move from one transport system to another with ease," he said.

The AFC is currently in the process of designing and its installation is expected to take from 12 to 15 months before full implementation.

He also did not rule out increased ticket prices following the integrated ticket concept.

"We have spent almost RM2 billion on this project, so with improved services we must also revise the fares charged," he added.

Metzelder says: Lets wait for it, but I am more interested in integrated ticket concept that will connect RapidKL and KTM ticket system into seamless one system.

It's has been a long time, we need an efficient ticketing system that leave passenger hassle free in using public transport modes in Klang Valley.

Yes! Malaysia Airlines has again lauched their new airplane Airbus 330-300 on April 14, this is part of the airline plan to have youngest fleets in Asia by 2015.

Overall, the design of seats and better in-flight entertainment will definitely attract more passengers.

Sepang (14 April 2011): Malaysia Airlines has launched its new A330-300 aircraft today, amidst a ceremonious event at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The occasion was graced by Minister of Transport, Y.B. Dato’ Seri Kong Cho Ha. Also present were Malaysia Airlines’ Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Munir Majid and Malaysia Airlines Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin, as well as representatives from Airbus and the Embassies of France, Spain, Great Britain and Germany, partners from the aviation industry, corporate customers, travel trade, winners of Malaysia Airlines Facebook page contest and members of the media. The reception marked another historical milestone for the airline.

Starting with a launch flight MH8888 from KLIA, guests were taken for a short journey to experience the new interiors and features of the aircraft. Upon arrival, the traditional water salute welcomed the latest aircraft to the Malaysia Airlines fleet, followed by a mixed drum ensemble. An eclectic dance performance symbolised the potpourri of cultures, as the passengers disembarked from the aircraft.

Malaysia Airlines’ Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Tengku Dato’ Sri Azmil Zahruddin said, “We are delighted to launch our first A330-300 five months after the delivery of the new B737-800 in November. The latest fleet is aimed at creating a strong and sustained platform for us to serve our discerning customers and for Malaysia Airlines to remain profitable. These aircrafts will serve the growing markets of South Asia, China, North Asia and Australia.”

The new Airbus A330-300 is the first of 15 aircrafts to be delivered to Malaysia Airlines over the next four years, as part of the airline's fleet renewal programme. It is the second fleet after the B737-800 to sport the dynamic livery with red and blue lines representing the Malaysia Airlines’ corporate colours.

Minister of Transport, YB Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said, “Malaysia Airlines has made another achievement in Malaysia’s aviation industry. Malaysia Airlines’ move to introduce this fleet is seen as an effort to promote more travel and business opportunities for both Malaysians and foreigners.”

The enhanced A330-300 has a total capacity of 283 seats, 36 seats in Business class and 247 seats in Economy class. All seats are equipped with AC power supply and USB port for laptops and electronic equipment. The new interiors are installed with mood lighting in all cabins and spacious overhead baggage compartments.

To provide enhanced experience and comfort, the sophisticated features and interiors of the new A330-300 Business Class cabin offer comfortable angled lie flat seats, a fold-out privacy divider and six-way adjustable headrest, among others, presenting the traveller with both a mini office, as well as a place to unwind.

The Economy Class cabin, features lightweight and slim design seats with four-way headrest. Each seat is equipped with individual audio-video on demand smart screens. The latest movies, TV programs, moving map and games are available for both cabins.

The first commercial flight on the new A330-300 will be from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane departing on 20 April 2011, followed by flights to Shanghai, Osaka, Beijing, Perth and Delhi on later dates.

Sarawak has 71 state assembly seats comprising 27 Malay/Melanau seats, 20 Iban seats, 15 Chinese seats, 6 Bidayuh seats and 3 Orang Ulu seats

A keen contest is expected in 29 seats during the Sarawak state elections, according to a prediction by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) political scientist Faizal Syam Hazis.

Faizal (left) believes that all 15 Chinese-majority seats, seven Iban-majority seats, three Malay-Melanau-majority seats, two Bidayuh-majority seats and two Orang Ulu-majority seats “might swing either way”.

Seats to watch


Chinese voter dissatisfaction is deep and could persist and spread to the northern part of Sarawak as indicated by the recent Sibu by-election and a recently concluded Merdeka Centre survey where only 21.5 percent of Chinese respondents indicated their support towards the BN.

It is thus expected that the opposition will retain the seven Chinese seats that they won in 2006 and gain four more, namely Repok, Dudong, Pelawan and Pujut.

All four of these seats except for Pujut were won by the BN with less than a 1000 vote-majority. By securing eleven out of fifteen Chinese seats, the opposition (especially DAP) would severely undermine the dominance of the ruling party and seriously question the future of SUPP.

Selective withdrawal of services and projects when an area votes the “wrong” way has served to drive home the point.

Sensing the fragility of Belaga, the Prime Minister made a pre-election visit there in January 2011 when he dished out RM100 million worth of development projects (Sarawak Tribune, 18 January 2011).

On top of that, PM Najib announced that the government would write off the remaining RM41 million housing loan involving 1500 families at the Sungai Asap Resettlement Scheme (Free Malaysia Today, 17 January 2011).

This act of rampant vote-buying just shows how insecure the ruling party is in Belaga.

A voter has claimed that he received RM20 from BN campaigners who visited his house at Kampung Baru Sri Aman in the Lingga state constituency this afternoon (April 15).

Puduraya Terminal to begin operations tomorrow (The Star)

THE 35-year-old Puduraya bus terminal will finally open for operations tomorrow after undergoing massive renovations costing RM52.7mil. The opening was delayed several times due to additional work on the base of the building.

UDA Holdings Berhad managing director Datuk Jaafar Abu Hassan said the terminal is 98% ready with the exception of certain areas. He said both north-bound and intra-city buses will begin operations tomorrow.

“Bus companies and retail outlets are in the process of collecting their keys and moving from the temporary terminal at Bukit Jalil,’’ he said.

The new Puduraya terminal has three new waiting areas, one on the Mezzanine floor and two more on the first floor. There are two units of walkalators and disabled-friendly facilities.

There are 50 ticketing counters on the first floor. “We have appointed a company to develop an e-ticketing system, and they will work with the bus companies to streamline the system proper,’’ said Jaafar. He added that the e-ticketing system would incorporate the system the bus companies were currently using and that he hoped to resolve the e-ticketing problem as soon as possible.

“Once e-ticketing is enforced, we can resolve the tout problem as people can now buy tickets online and via the e-kiosk. Buses will now have to park at the depot at Jalan Galloway and they will be given a 20-minute waiting time before they can come into Puduraya to pick up passengers,’’ Jaafar said.

“They (buses) will no longer be allowed to park outside the terminal, and situations of them queuing up outside the terminal with their engines running and causing congestion will no longer happen,’’ he said.

He added contractors will be on standby on Saturday to ensure that everything goes according to plan.

Land Public Transport Commis-sions (LPTC) head of State Operations and Terminal Licensing Mohd Fuad Ahmad said there would be extra enforcement by the authorities tomorrow. “We will not tolerate touting and anyone found guilty of touting can be charged in court and fined up to RM50,000 or face a maximum jail term of two years,’’ said Mohd Fuad.

Cooler environment: Puduraya now has three posh waiting areas.

“We will go all out to catch them (touts) as our enforcement personnel will be placed in strategic places to monitor their activities,’’ Mohd Fuad said.

On the upgrading of Puduraya Hotel, which has been renamed Angkasa Express, work is expected to complete by June.

The terminal was closed in April 2010 for upgrading works and was supposed to be re-opened in September last year

> 1,292 seats in the waiting areas on the ground floor, mezzanine and first floor. The 22 auto-gate system platforms are on the ground floor.

Metzelder says: I am very happy with the interior of the terminal which is almost resemble an airport.

However many drivers are complaining about possible traffic jam nightmare once the terminal operational. But I expect those buses will wait at Hang Tuah Terminal before entering Puduraya.

Ticket touts remain major issue as enforcement presence from SPAD is lacking. I shall update after it's open this Saturday.

But the truth is he doesn't, but instead he uses this 'exclusive' interview to have nationwide attention to re-investigate his SD. Petra calls TV3's bluff, says 'now everyone is listening' Self-exiled blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, who was interviewed last night by UMNO-owned television channel TV3, said the authorities could no longer brand him a "fugitive".

“If the government owned mainstream media goes all the way to Australia to interview me, that means my status is no longer fugitive mah! Get it? "We can handle the spinning. But they can no longer call me 'fugitive blogger'. So who wins?” asked Petra in an article he wrote on his Malaysia Today, following intense reactions over the internet about his purported 'U-turn' over allegations that the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor had been personally involved in the murder of Mongolian negotiator Altantuya Shariibuu in 2006. TV3, in what it called an exclusive interview with Petra in Perth, Australia, had suggested that Petra had now admitted he had been wrong in accusing Rosmah of being involved in the murder. Petra also scoffed at critics who questioned why he allowed himself to be interviewed by TV3. "Yes, TV3 gave me that opportunity to tell the story I have always told but no one appears to be listening. Suddenly everyone is listening, thanks to TV3. "Sometimes we need a storm to get people’s attention. Maybe now the police will do what I have been asking them to do these last three years: that is, investigate my statutory declaration and ascertain the truth behind what Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin alleged," said the plucky 61-year old who is a member of the Selangor royal family. "I merely requested an investigation" The murder trial concluded in 2009, with guilty verdict passed on two of the three men charged, both of whose facial identity had been carefully guarded from photographers. Najib's close aide Abdul Razak Baginda, who admitted to having a romantic affair with Altantuya, was however acquitted and had since left the country. Since then, several allegations had been forwarded, including one by a witness in the trial, Razak's private detective P. Balasubramaniam, who claimed that Razak had told him that he (Razak) and Najib had both had sexual trysts with Altantuya. Altantuya's murder, he said, was also linked to her request for her share of kickbacks amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars with regard to the government's controversial purchase of France's Scorpene submarines. In the interview aired on TV3's news bulletin, however, Petra said he had merely asked the police to investigate allegations by several closely-connected sources that Najib Razak and Rosmah were involved in the murder. Petra explained that he had asked fellow blogger Din Merican (left) to ask Anwar whether the source of information, one Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin described as "number two in the Special Branch of the Military Intelligence", could be relied upon. Din had then told Petra that Anwar had trust in Azmi's intelligence. He explained why he had made a statutory declaration dated June 18, 2008, the same which he had told online news portal Malaysiakini two years ago by revealing ‘his sources’ for his sensational allegation that Rosmah was at the crime scene, a forest clearing near Shah Alam, where remnants of Altantuya's body was found after being detonated. While Petra said he had doubts about the story's credibility, he nevertheless reiterated calls for an investigation. "It can't be that the Prime Minister's wife would want to go to such place; it's a jungle. I'm imagining, climbing up the hill, going into the jungle at night, at 12 midnight, I think it's quite impossible." "In my SD, I said that these people had told (me) and for these people to come forward and tell their stories, and for the authority to investigate and call these people." "That is what I've written in the SD (statutory declaration). I've never raised any accusation. I didn't say I knew that the Prime Minister's wife was at the scene at that time," the transcript quoted him as saying. Din confirms story

Several UMNO-controlled media had however claimed that Petra's latest statement was proof of his admission that Najib and Rosmah were innocent. Hours later, Petra shot back, listing down four news articles from the media, telling readers to make comparisons to what he had actually said. Meanwhile, Din Merican had issued a passionate denial on his blog, expressing surprise that his name was mentioned by Petra. "I have no disagreements with Prime Minister Najib. Let me state that I am not anti-Najib; in fact, a number of commentators in my blog have severely criticised me for being 'soft' on our Prime Minister and his policies," said Din. He however confirmed Petra's claim that he was asked to get clearance from Anwar about Azmi's credibility. "But it is a fact that Raja Petra called me to seek confirmation from Anwar Ibrahim regarding the reliability of a certain military intelligence officer. When I received confirmation from the PKR de facto leader, I relayed it to Raja Petra. That was all to the whole matter."

Girl claims she did not brush her teeth for 10 years

EVERYONE has a special habit. However, sometimes they get so carried away as to shock others. Martian Virus, a popular TV programme from tvN based in Seoul, introduces those with habits or characteristics that are grotesque, but those they are proud of nonetheless.

The show is to introduce a girl whose habit does match her beautiful outward appearance. Known as 'Cutey Yellowish,' she stopped brushing her teeth a decade ago. The last time she remembers doing so was when her mother brushed teeth for her.

'I do not understand why people should brush teeth, as it is not like others will look into your mouth,' said Ji Hyun Ji, 20. 'As food scraps pile on, they will actually protect my teeth.'

She only wipes her front teeth with tissue on 'special' occasions.

The show is planning to reveal dentists' diagnosis, which they claim is the most shocking of their careers. Though Ms Ji has forgotten how to brush her teeth, the programme will also try to persuade Ms Ji to do so again, according to producer Lee Geun Chan. Korea Herald/ANN

Fish kut teh a must-try in Tanjung Sepat (Kuali)

IN THIS week’s edition of the Food Trail, we are taking a look at Tanjung Sepat in Selangor.

This coastal town is located near Banting, which is roughly 30km from Klang.

If you are familiar with the Morib beach, then you are on the right track.

There are two ways to get to Tanjung Sepat.

Simmering goodness: The fish kut teh at Yik Kee.

For those who live in Seremban, the nearest town is Sepang while those coming from Klang, it is best to head towards Banting.

Now, there are several good eating spots in Tanjung Sepat which is well-known for seafood.

Here, you can find some decent Chinese seafood restaurants dotted along the coastline as well as in the town centre.

One of the much talked-about attraction here is the seafood bak kut teh.

Before I embarked on a cycling trip to this town from Morib (which is about 17.5km away), I was recommended by some friends to check out the eating outlets in town and one bak kut teh shop in particular was given the good word.

To corroborate the finding, I cross-referred the information on the internet and came up with some results.

So, when Michelle, my wife and I arrived in town, we cycled around to look for a place to have our late breakfast.

Cycling whets up a good appetite and our quest had led us to Yik Kee bak kut teh (GPS N 02 39 671, E 101 33 567).

This corner shop is located along the town’s main street and is not hard to spot.

We were lucky enough to get a small dining table where we can park our Dahon folding bicycles and keep a close watch on it while we eat.

I went up to the cook and asked for a bowl of bak kut teh and the shop’s signature dish: the fish kut teh (fish paste and fillet simmered with Chinese preserved vegetables).

When the dishes arrived, Michelle gave the bak kut teh her approval.

The gravy was rich in flavour and I cannot complain about the generous portion of meat given.

Unassuming: Yik Kee bak kut teh is located in the town centre of Tanjung Sepat.

Now, when it comes to the fish kut teh, I must say having it was a unique experience.

The fish fillets were fresh and sweet. My only beef with this dish is that it is a bit salty.

The shop owner gladly accepted this when I complained to him.

And to make the makan experience here worthwhile, the dishes were affordable. At RM22 for the meals, I was a happy man.

As for the seafood with meat option, you can have your bak kut teh with shrimps and fish fillet.

This, said the shop owner, would cost about RM20 per bowl (small helping for one or two persons).

Yik Kee opens for breakfast and lunch daily. If you decide to try it out, just head there early. Travel time from the Kuala Lumpur city centre is roughly about one-and-a-half hours via the Kesas Highway.

PS: It is interesting to come across 'cross-fabricated' food. I have not try this before although I went to Tanjung Sepat before, sure will give a try next visit.

The story of a Tukang Urut

Physio was an intelligent boy. After doing a physiotherapy course abroad for 3 years, he returned home and set up a clinic in his hometown.

He asked a designer to make a new name plate to be hung on the wall outside the clinic. The next morning, when he went to his clinic, he was pleased to find that the name plate was already put up.

But he was greatly annoyed by the wordings on the plate : TUKANG URUT.

He went to the designer and took him to task. "How can you insult my profession? 'Tukang Urut' means masseur in Malay.

I am a physiotherapist and not a masseur! Make sure you change the name right now! And see that the word is spelt correctly!" Physio said angrily.

The designer apologized and promised to make the changes immediately. Without further delay, he proceeded to change the name but found that the word "physiotherapist' was too long.

So he broke it up into three words to make it easier to read. The next morning, Physio hit the roof when he saw the new name. On the name plate were written : PHYSIO THE RAPIST
